But the LORD said to Samuel, "Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I
have rejected him. The LORD does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks
at the heart. As children we may have heard that we needed to "wear our Sunday best" to attend church. That sounds like a
good intention and if it is from the heart, I'm sure God appreciates the motive since the heart is where He looks first. However,
we discover in the above scripture that there is nothing of our external appearance that impresses nor depresses the Lord.
Even the very children of Israel who had the visible presence of God manifested in their midst were not required to have different
clothing for worship. The only requirement was that they be clean. And the LORD said to Moses, "Go to the people and consecrate
them today and tomorrow. Have them wash their clothes and be ready by the third day, because on that day the LORD will come
down on Mount Sinai in the sight of all the peopleRegardless of our clothing or our hearts, Jesus wants all to come to Him.
Matthew 11:28-29 Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn
from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
